2020 AYP Summer Camp Policies

Drop Off & Pick Up Procedures:

  • Only one parent/guardian is permitted to approach the office entrance for drop off & pick up. All families must maintain 2m social distancing while waiting to drop off and pick up participants.

  • Parents and guardians will not sign in/sign out their child(ren). Two staff will sign the sheet instead to vouch for attendance.

  • No parents/guardians are permitted to use our washroom facilities or proceed past the entrance of the office.

  • Staff members, parents or guardians, and children must not attend the program if they are sick, even if symptoms resemble a mild cold. Symptoms to look for include fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose, nasal congestion, headache, and a general feeling of being unwell.

  • Staff will conduct active symptom screening of each child every day with the parent or guardian as they drop off their children. Staff will check the temperatures of children daily before entering the AYP office.

  • Staff will keep daily records of anyone entering the day camp who stays for 15 minutes or longer (e.g. staff working each day, children, etc.). Records will be kept up-to-date and available to facilitate contact tracing in the event of an outbreak.

  • If a child develops symptoms while at the program, the child will be isolated away from other children and the parent or guardian will be notified to come and pick up the child immediately.

  • If a child requires close contact and care, staff will continue to care for the child until the parent or guardian is able to pick them up.

  • Upon returning home, is it strongly recommended that participants practice hand washing and a change of clothes to further prevent the spread of an illness.

  • There will be a no tolerance policy for repetitive behavior that breaks social distancing rules -deliberate coughing, spitting, and sneezing on other participants will result in the participant being sent home and they may be removed from the remainder of the camp.

Physical Distancing

  • All staff and participants will maintain 2 meters of physical distance between each other. This will be maintained by assigning participants individual cubbies, mats on the floor and pool noodles as a visual for physical distancing.

  • Where a shared outdoor space is used, a distance of 10 meters will be maintained between groups. (eg. Another summer camp)

  • Field trips and activities requiring group transportation will not occur. With outdoor activities, participants will walk to the designated area while maintaining a 2-meter distance.

Food Service

  • Food provided by the family will be stored with the child’s belongings and only eaten during designated times at their designated mat.

  • A “no food sharing” policy will be ensured, and all campers will be provided a new recyclable water bottle each day.

  • AYP Lunches and snacks that are provided will be prepared and handled by staff only.
